JWT & Mad Men

JWT have produced this interesting spot advertising, well, themselves. It is to feature on the 4-disc Mad Men: Season One DVD set. In a nod to its clients, past and present, the spot recreates the words “Mad Men” with animated letters comprised entirely of letters taken from the logos of global JWT clients. Wonder what the reasoning behind this was? Will anyone who watches the show other than people involved in advertising themselves know of or be interested in hearing JWT's boasts? Looks cool anyway.

RMG Connect

We have just finished a three-week stint at a company called RMG Connect. RMG are partners with JWT dealing with mostly through the line, or below the line briefs specialising in direct mail and online.
We kept ourselves busy during the three weeks, always making sure we had something to work on by pestering traffic or jumping in on other peoples briefs. Some of the briefs we worked on were for Philadelphia (the cream cheese), HSBC and Wilkinson Sword. Working on such big brands was exiting but daunting at the same time. At University we are usually given a week or so to answer a brief, not in this case. Some briefs we only had a matter of hours to come up with new concepts. The whole experience was relatively new to us but after a couple of days into the placement we managed to settle in and produce some good work. Thanks to all the guys at RMG for making our stay a pleasure.

Diesel Celebrate 30th Anniversary through the medium of Porn

Diesel have launched this stunning viral to promote their 30th anniversary. I would first like to congratulate 'The Viral Factory' for coming up with the idea and then most importantly congratulate the client for having the cohones to buy the idea. Pure genius!

W+K Delhi

A couple of months ago we ventured out to India for a two month placement at W+K Delhi.
We had a great time and got to work with some inspiring people. We were fortunate enough to work on some cool briefs for clients such as Nokia, Royal Enfield, Save the children and Creative Futures. We miss it loads but one way of suppressing our withdrawal symptoms are by visiting their blog from time to time. Its written by a friend of ours Nirmal and is a great read. Thought i would share it with you guys so you can see what's cracking in the adverting industry all the way from Delhi.

Donald Draper is my hero

Some may have seen it, some may have heard about it and not seen it, some people just wont give a shit. But here i am to recommend to you 'Mad Men'. Mad Men is another american series brought to you by the writer and producers of 'Sopranos'. The series is set in the 1960's Advertising Industry in Manhattan. Mad Men follows the life of Donald Draper a Creative Director at the fictional ad agency of Sterling Cooper, where he deals with everyday life in advertising from writing award winning ad's to schmoozing as many women as he can. For people like me who are interested in advertising it gives a great insight into the industry as-well as a gripping story line that will be sure to capture the public who couldn't care less about advertising. Mad Men has since gone on to win many awards and i am already eagerly awaiting the arrival of the second series.

The summer project is over!

So the summer is over, and therefore so is my summer project for university. You may have noticed posts knocking about on this blog about the Beijing Olympics. No points for guessing what my summer project subject was. The research i collected has clogged up this blog and made it far less interesting. Apologies for this people. So now that the summer project is over i can post what i like! This blog will now be a documentation of all things advertising, interesting and amusing. hope you enjoy.
