Walls

Im a big fan of the new Walls campaign by BMB. The guys at BMB released their latest edition to the campaign during the big boat race this sunday.

Great idea. Wish there was more advertising like this - makes the advert more personal and relevant. Not too sure how tailored advertising would go down in this economic crisis but one thing is for sure it certainly has more of an effect. This advert even had the approval of my nan, and i quote, "oh thats clever, wish we could just watch that, wouldn't av to watch these silly toffs battle it out with paddles for alf a bleedin our." Nice one nan.

Scanwiches

Corned Beef, Mustard, on Rye.

Cappy ham, sun-dried tomatoes, lettuce, and swiss cheese on a hero.

These are our two favorites so far. Mouth watering stuff. Check out scanwiches here. Best to check this before your lunch break.

Tuesday

Awaydays

Finally Kevin Sampson's novel 'Awaydays' is coming to the big screen, and i cant wait! Hearing nothing but good things.

Wandering bear

Wandering bear from joetom on Vimeo.

So the idea we pitched to Wandering Bear didn't go as planned. The scheduled 'stunt' was bulldozed by boring security guards at the Savoy Place. However we managed to salvage some footage of the bear wondering around Embankment. Was a interesting day of fun and editing. Awesome track as-well. The company are now seeding the video in the hope that it goes viral. Although the camera work, quality and dancing could be improved we are happy considering we only had two days of planning, no budget and having to salvage something out of nothing. Plus we got to spend a whole morning with a break dancing bear, not every day you get to say that. Good news is that they want us back on some more projects they have lined up.

Wednesday

Out with the old, in with the incredible

So the old ibook G4 finally packed up on me. It was bound to happen sooner or later. The old girl had been running on its last legs for about 6 months. The final straw came when it cut out on me whilst editing some vital print outs. Although i was reluctant to put it down, i aint half glad i did! This new macbook Pro is a dream. Im typing on it now and even the keyboard turns me on. However all is not rosie. This bad boy has set me back a few bob and added to the growing debt that hangs over my head 24/7. Im sure in the long run it will be worth it. The Dubstep and Minimal sounds ten times better on these speakers as-well.

Busy, busy, busy

Apologies for the lack of posts the past few days. The tempo has certainly upped a notch. We were set two briefs, by two different companies last friday, both with the deadline on monday. Fortunately one in the morning and one in the afternoon. On of the clients was dixonbaxi. We worked with these guys this time last year and after seeing our placementteam.com video they invited us in again, this time to work on some channel Five stuff they have been doing. Check out their award winning rebrand work here. Five rebrand We are over the moon to have another chance of working with these guys. They truly are inspiration pair and their work speaks for itself. Here is a couple of the 'brand bursts' they produced a while back.

The other brief set was for a relatively new company called wandering bear. Although we were incredibly tired and running on a concoction of Redbull and Lucozade tablets we managed to sell one of our ideas. It involves a break dancing bear and the event is tomorrow. Exiting but busy stuff. Still have to squeeze uni work in the mix somewhere. Will keep you updated on any news.

The Placement Team

We have recently finished a project advertising the National Portrait Gallery. The brief was to promote the Gallery and encourage people in the creative industry to visit. With such a demanding target audience we decided to approach the problem from a different angle. The end product is a mockumentary following a creative's teams efforts to try and solve the very brief that they set us. In turn subliminaly advertising the National Portrait Gallery.

A teaser

We have been working relentlessly on our Uni briefs, one of which is finally drawing to a close. Here is a little teaser from last weeks photo-shoot. All will be revealed soon.

Great Video

Recommended by none other than Kanye West. Make sure you double click to watch full size.

It was only a matter of time!

Okay, this is turning into a bit of a joke.
Here is a great YouTube video called 'Balloon Bowl' that came out a couple of years back. Since its release it has become a success on the internet and boasts over 3 million views. Check it:

Oh, and here is Aero's new £7m advert brought to you by JWT:

So obviously a rip off, they are not even trying to disguise it the cheeky little buggers. This isn't the first time a YouTube video has been ripped off and im sure it will not be the last. Do the guys who created this advert not hang their head in shame? They should, because over 3 million people know that its a rip off. I fear for the advertising industries reputation. If anybody can make an interesting and visually pleasing video on YouTube that is emulated by the advertising industry, does that not mean that anybody could do our job? What do you think?

Monday

I Heart Tony

Yep thats right, i heart Tony Heart, and I'm not ashamed to admit it. The man was an inspiration and is one of the reasons for my venture into the creative industry. So it brought a smile to my face to see that people had organized a 'Morph' flash mob to celebrate Tony's life and career. Great photo's found on flickr.

Sunday

Jam mmmmm...

Mistabishi - Printer Jam from Hospital Records on Vimeo.

Whilst surfing on my new favorite site i found this. Make sure you watch it on full screen. (double click the video) Enjoy.

Good morning

Woke up this morning blurrey eyed and hung over to this! Cool eh? And it works. Usually i opt for my trusted Crunch Nut but this clever piece of packaging seduced me. Not bad tasting cereal either.
